The Compton (Calif.) Dominguez High School is a skilled south paw who is very versatile in his game. These attributes naturally draw the comparisons to another lefty who ultimately donned the maroon and gold, James Harden.
"I think I could fit in very nice with Arizona State and do some of the stuff that James did there," King stated. "Obviously he's a great player and I'm trying to get to his level. When I watched film with the coaches I could tell that Arizona State likes to run, rebound the ball and push it and I like to play in that style.
"This is a program that is starting to reach to his highest ability. It used to be an underdog and now it's like a sleeping giant."
King remarked that while he's trying to narrow down his list of schools, he also wouldn't eliminate any suitors that may come along in the near future. "My top three right now are Arizona State, Arizona and Stanford," King said. "I'm probably going to end up in the Pac-10."
The 2010 prospect hasn't taken a college entrance exam yet (plans to take the ACT in October), so he hasn't planned any official visits to any schools in the fall. Consequently, he said that he's unsure whether he will sign in the early period in November or wait to April of next year to sign.
King was at a Stanford camp earlier in the year, but hinted that he really didn't get to visit the Palo Alto campus then. He added that he hasn't visited the University of Arizona yet.
"I'm looking for a school where I can come in and make a great impact right away," Kind said. "I also want to go to a school that is real good in my major (King pans to be a communications major)."
