Bejarano rescinds pledge

Last fall Phoenix North basketball star Daniel Bejarano was considered a strong possibility to pledge to the hometown Sun Devils. That scenario could still materialize as Devils Digest confirmed earlier reports that the guard de-committed from Texas, the school he verbaled to in October 2008 and is leaning towards staying in-state.

The 6-4 195 Daniel Bejarano is rated as a four-star prospect by and the no. 8 overall shooting guard in the 2010 recruiting class. His latest decision puts archrivals Arizona State and Arizona back in the recruiting sweepstakes and ahead of any other potential suitors.

It is believed that both schools will try and visit Bejarano before Monday, in accordance with NCAA 2010 recruiting calendar guidelines. The guard is expected to sign during the November signing period.

The #43 prospect in the 2010 class put together a very impressive season in leading North to a 25-5 record. The first team all-state selection averaged 23.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocked shots per game, and had 16 double doubles. He scored 22 points as he led North to a 42-39 win over top ranked Tucson Ironwood Ridge in the 5A-II championship game last year. Bejarano, averaged 23.8 points, nine rebounds and three assists during the playoff run.
