Washington Chooses Sun Devils

Long Beach Poly star linebacker Mark Washington, 6'1 241 pounds, committed to Arizona State this evening in a phone call with the Sun Devil staff. DevilsDigest was the first one on the scene after his commitment.

"I just committed, not even a half-hour ago." He said, "With ASU the opportunity is there right now for me to come in and if I do well enough I can play a lot of even start as a freshman. I just felt that ASU, the direction they're going is all positive, and I want to be a part of that."

When Washington visited Tempe his host was Skyler Fulton. He also was able to catch up with a former high school teammate, Ricky Parker, who played with Washington for a season when they were both at Artesia high school before he transferred to Poly, one of the most dominant programs in the country. Parker later transferred to Los Alamitos.

The addition of Washington gives Arizona State an elite level high school linebacker commitment to match their JC elite recruit, Justin Burks. With Washington's size, speed and experience playing at Long Beach Poly he could be a player that has the ability to immediately impact the depth-chart at ASU.
