Hot shooting Devils rout Ducks in Eugene

Tonight for ASU it was Déjà vu for all the right reasons. From tip-off to final buzzer, just like in their home series against the Washington schools, the maroon and gold once again complemented their trademark lockdown defense with a scorching offense. Not surprisingly, it produced another lopsided victory as ASU in their final game at McArthur Court bulldozed Oregon 76-57.

Arizona State (13-5, 3-2 Pac-10) never trailed in tonight's contest, and after just six and half minutes minutes of play already led 17-6. Oregon (10-6, 2-2) found itself in double digit deficit for the last 32 minutes of the game, as they saw the visitors from Tempe convert 57 percent of their shots in the first half, including 8 of 13 beyond the arc.

The Devils led 46-27 at the half, and in the second stanza, the Sun Devils were up by as many as many 28 points with just under eight and half minutes in the game as they bid adieu in style to the oldest arena in the Pac-10.

Rihards Kuksiks paced all players on the floor with 25 points. Ty Abbott added 16, and Derek Glasser who also had six assists and five turnovers contributed 12 points. Kuksiks and Trent Lockett each had five rebounds.

ASU was 10 of 20 from three-point range, and overall shot at a 48.9 percent clip from the field. They converted 20-22 free throws as they forced 16 Oregon turnovers and held the hosts to 37.3 percent shooting from the field. The Ducks were led by LeKendric Longmire who had 11 points.

The Sun Devils will make the 45-minute drive north to Corvallis to meet the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday, naturally eyeing a road sweep. Tip-off from Gill Coliseum is scheduled for 4:30 pm PT.
