Keys to Cal

Arizona will have to do numerous things in order to defeat Cal Saturday.

First off, the notion that defeating Cal Saturday night will be easy is very likely incorrect.

Sure, the Golden Bears suffered defensively against Nevada, but the offense is still very dangerous, especially when it gets a consistent effort from Kevin Riley.

In order to defeat the Golden Bears, Arizona is going to have to make sure Cal does not get that.

The defensive strategy for the UA this season has been to load up and stop the run while maintaining an aggressive pressure on the quarterback.

Considering how Cal's offense operates, this strategy once again makes total sense.

If Cal is forced to be a one dimensional offense, it is very difficult to see it coming out with a win.

Shane Vereen is simply going to have to be able to put up solid numbers if Cal has a chance of coming out of Tucson with the W.

If he is unable to do so, Cal's offensive strategy completely changes and it is playing right into Arizona's hands.

This allows Tim Kish and company to blitz a bit more and this disrupt the Cal offense to a degree that it simply has not seen this season.

There is a very good chance that Arizona is going to get its points, but if it is to beat a team that it should likely beat, the defense is going to have to set the pace.
