Here is a brief summary of UCLA by the numbers, as Arizona travels to Pasadena this weekend.
Scoring offense: 21.3 points per game (9th in Pac-10): UCLA is primarily a running team and that has hurt the offensive productivity as a whole.
Defenses that have faced the Bruins have put eight in the box and threatened the quarterback to beat them, something the Bruins' quarterbacks have not been able to do.
Total offense: 314.4 yards per game (10th in Pac-10): This point translates well to the first one in that UCLA has anything but a balanced offense.
There is certainly some talent on the offensive side of the ball, but the Bruins are not using it effectively and are suffering because of it.
Passing offense: 104.6 yards per game (10th in Pac-10): There are not many major schools that are worse than the Bruins in this category.
Neither Kevin Prince or Richard Brehaut averages over 100 yards and, when the season ends, UCLA is definitely going to still be last in this category, as it seems the UCLA coaching staff simply does not trust its signal callers to win the game.
Rushing offense: 209.9 yards per game (4th in Pac-10): This is easily UCLA's biggest strength, led by Jonathan Franklin and Derrick Coleman.
Franklin is the team's leading rusher with 106 yards per game and is probably one of the better backs in the country should he have a better offensive line.
As you can see, if the Bruins are unable to run the ball, the offense is basically useless and UCLA is likely to lose the game.
