With Arizona having another winning season under Mike Stoops, the inevitable talk of an extended contract is going to come up.
This could be Greg Byrnes' first real big athletic decision and it is one that seems like a no brainer.
If Arizona wants to keep winning and keep Stoops in Arizona, it is going to have to give him a contract extension of value.
With coaches constantly moving around, the Wildcats would be smart to secure its place in college football in terms of having a coach.
The learning curve was big for Stoops, but he seems to have approached it will and is now the coach that the UA simply did not have for quite some time.
Stoops contract and salary are reasonable but in this day and age it has to be a bit more than reasonable. The worst thing that could happen to Arizona at this juncture is that another school hires Stoops.
If that happens and a new coach does not run a similar system, Arizona is back to square one having to rebuild everything.
Locking up Stoops is a huge decision and one that should be made much sooner than later.
Stoops deserves extenstion
