Softball Takes Two from Bruins

The No. 2 University of Arizona Softball Team defeated No. 1 UCLA for the second time in as many days, 5-1. The Cats, (37-3, 6-0) finished their first Pac-10 roadtrip of the season with a record of 3-0.

Junior Wendy Allen put the Cats up, 1-0 in the second inning when she hit a single to right field and eventually stole home.

Senior Lovie Jung hit her fifth grand slam this season in the seventh inning to put the Cats up, 5-0. The Bruins only run came in the seventh inning with a home run by senior Natasha Watley.

Freshman Alicia Hollowell once again pitched for the Cats. Hollowell gave up five hits and struck out four batters. Hollowell improves to 24-2. Hollowell ends the weekend with a, 3-0 record with two shutouts.

The Cats return home next weekend, when they take on No. 11 Stanford on Friday, April 11 at 7 p.m. Arizona will face No. 6 California on Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m.

The Arizona Wildcats Softball team took to the Pca-10 road, swooped into Seattle a left with a 3-0 victory over the Washington Huskies.

The No. 2 softball team (35-3, 4-0) defeated No. 3 Washington (32-5, 1-3), 3-0 in Seattle, Washington. The Cats scored two runs in the first inning. Junior Wendy Allen hit a two-run single to right field to score senior Lovie Jung and sophomore Courtney Fossatti.

Arizona scored in the sixth inning when sophomore Allyson Von Liechtenstein stole home, to put the Cats up, 3-0.

Freshman Alicia Hollowell pitched seven innings for the Cats, giving up two hits and striking out 12 batters. Hollowell improves to 22-2 on the season.
