Often times a class needs one player to get the ball rolling. That first commit is usually a player that has had his eyes set on the particular school for a while.
Meet Sidiki Johnson.
Arizona received a commitment from Johnson in early August and the importance of his commitment can't be overstated.
Johnson represents a new era of sorts, as he hails from the Bronx and will automatically bring toughness to an Arizona team that will welcome it with open arms.
In addition, he represents the recruiting power of Book Richardson, as Johnson will certainly not be the last player from back east that the Wildcats land.
Those expecting Johnson to be a superstar immediately upon coming to Arizona are likely going to be disappointed.
However, those wanting a player that is tough, going to play defense, and hit the glass, are likely going to find that Johnson is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Lute Olson was and always will be considered to be a fantastic coach.
However, Sean Miller is bringing a different style of play and it started with Kevin Parrom and Lamont Jones.
Johnson is an extension of that play and will help bring a style that the Pac-10 simply has not had much experience contending with.
What that necessarily means for the program as a whole has yet to be seen. However, Johnson's commitment has more meaning than just a player coming to Arizona.
In fact, he represents much more than that.
