At the end of the Oregon-Arizona game, there was one major factor that was obvious and extremely disappointing at the same time.
Oregon was just better.
Arizona could have take advantage of a few more opportunities, but the reality of the situation is that it probably would not have mattered.
Sure, Arizona had the best quarterback and receiver on the field, but beyond that, it was arguable.
After the game, even Mike Stoops sounded defeated at that simple fact.
"We tried to stay in it as long as we could," he said. "They put a lot of pressure on you in a lot of different ways with their offense and we really could not handle it in the second half.
That's right, Arizona just could not handle it.
It was not that Arizona did not have an idea of what was coming or that the Wildcats were even playing that poorly.
Rather, Arizona just did not have the personnel to handle what Oregon was doing.
Of course, while it is difficult to say Arizona played poorly, it did make a few poor mistakes that cost the Wildcats dearly.
"We just made too many mistakes and they put a lot of pressure on your defense to play well," Stoops said.
Arizona won't have any excuses this week when it plays a team on a level playing field and now, the Arizona State game has become one in which may just decide the future of the program.
