UA needs to limit turnovers

Arizona may have won Thursday night's game, but UA head coach Sean Miller feels there is still room for improvement.

"UCLA's nineteen turnovers were big," Miller said. "It's hard to win at home with that number of turnovers, and it's even harder to overcome that on the road.

"We had seventeen turnovers tonight, and it's going to cause us a lot of problems in the future if we don't work to correct that now."

Miller was frustrated with the offense at times due in large part to its lack of movement.

"For the most part, we played well on offense, but it can be frustrating at times with these turnovers," he said. "A lot of them were self-inflicted. Our offense relies a lot on ball movement, but if one guy puts the ball on the floor, or someone is out of place, then we're going to lose it.

"We have to do this as a team, to get the ball from one side to the next, and when we do that, we are better. When we don't we're not."

The Wildcats tried to give the lead back at the end and Miller believes it needs to improve the way it closes out victories.

"Our finish was a little disappointing," he said. "We have to learn to be more careful in the end. We don't need to heave a fourteen foot pass up the court when we are up by fifteen and risk losing the ball.

"At that point, we just have to run the clock out and slow down our pace. The guys just need to be a little more mature, but overall it was a great night in Tucson."
