There has been a bit of surprise regarding Lamont Jones' play as of late, but Arizona coach Sean Miller feels that much of it has to do with the effort he has given.
"No one's ever given him anything," Miller said. "He's always fought hard in a big city where there's a lot of pride. I think he came to Arizona to be a guard that people love to watch and to win and do some of the things some former players have done here. It hasn't come easy for him here; he's worked hard.
Part of Jones' success can be attributed to the fact that he takes the approach of wanting to prove people wrong.
"If you get beaten up a little bit and you go through some adversity and you're criticized, you really do want to prove people wrong. I think what you're sensing from him is that confidence of saying, 'I told you I can do it'."
In order to prove people wrong, Jones has maybe had to work harder than other players have.
"Momo is one of our hardest workers, sometimes that gets lost in the shuffle," Miller said. "He's stayed with it sometimes when he hasn't played well in games.
"He's a product of his daily habits; working hard every day has a funny way of helping you get where you want to get to and he's a product of that hard work."
