Wildcats lose at buzzer

Washington defeated Arizona 77-75 Saturday to win the Pac-10 Tournament.

With the way Washington and Arizona have played this season, it is no surprise that Saturday's game at Staples Center ended the way it did.

Isaiah Thomas hit a shot at the buzzer in overtime to defeat Arizona 77-75 to win the Pac-10 tournament.

Thomas finished the game with 28 points on 10-16 shooting, as the Wildcats did a solid job defensive in the second half for the most part.

However, it seemed inevitable that Thomas would get his opportunity and when he finally did, he took advantage.

With the game going back and forth, Arizona took a 68-65 lead with 14 seconds left.

However, a mistake by Kevin Parrom on defense left C.J. Wilcox open on the baseline and the Husky tied it up with a three-pointer with five seconds left.

In overtime, Arizona scored the first bucket and then got up 73-72 with a little over three minutes left.

The game stayed that way until Wilcox made an easy layup with the UA defense sleeping with 45 seconds left.

Parrom answered with 21 seconds left by hitting a three-pointer, but that only led to Thomas coming up big.

Guarded by Lamont Jones, Thomas took his time then hit a step back jumper for the win.

Williams led Arizona with 24 points and 11 rebounds and got most of his help from 12-point efforts by both Solomon Hill and Kevin Parrom.

In addition to Thomas' effort, Washington was able to get 16 points from Terrence Ross.
