Lineman taking his time

Arizona has offered offensive lineman Felix Romero and the Wildcats look to be in good shape.

Arizona is in hot pursuit of many 2012 recruits and an early focus has been put on the offensive line.

One target is guard Felix Romero from Leander (TX) Cedar Park. The 2012 prospect has received an offer from Arizona and has had a chance to get to know assistant coach Ryan Walters.

"I have been in contact with him for four or five months," Romero said. "I have been giving him calls and we have talked about the opportunity they gave me."

There hasn't been anything official set up at this point, but Romero is definitely interested in venturing out to Tucson for a visit.

"I have talked about going to one of their spring practices or a scrimmage or something like that," Romero said.

Romero favors Arizona at this point, but it is early in the process and several other schools are fighting with UA for Romero's services currently.

"Right now, Arizona is my first offer, so there is definitely some interest in that." Romero said. "Baylor, I have been talking to them a little bit and I have been talking to Arkansas too. Those are the three main schools I have pretty good relationships with the coaches."

There are more factors to accepting a scholarship from a school than just the football program. Romero will be figuring in other areas as well; specifically, the education aspect of college.

"I am looking for academics." Romero said. "My parents have always told me that a scholarship is a blessing but you also have to focus on the academic standpoint of it. Definitely how good the program is helps."

Romero is still in the middle of his junior year, so he has a while before he has to make a final decision. He plans on taking his time and going over his options before making a choice, which he plans to do towards the end of next season.

"I am not sure (when I will decide)," Romero said. "If anything comes up, I will let people know where I am going, but probably not until towards the end of my senior year."
