Defensive back enjoys visit

Arizona hosted a big-time defensive back for Saturday's Spring Game and he enjoyed his first unofficial visit in years.

6-foot-1, 215-pound Los Angeles Pierce Community College defensive back Gerald Bowman may have been the most highly regarded player in attendance Saturday for Arizona's Spring Game.

Bowman currently has 12 offers and enjoyed his time at Arizona as he got to check out the team up close.

"The visit went pretty good," Bowman said. "I got a chance to see everything up there and they played at a high speed."

This was Bowman's first visit in quite some time and he came away impressed with numerous aspects of Arizona.

"It was my first unofficial since high school, so it was a good experience," he said. "The togetherness of the team stood out and it was impressive how the defensive backs got along with each other and hung out together. That is also the truth for the coaches too because they seemed to get along well with them also."

Arizona is putting the full court press on Bowman and it made it clear how it sees him fitting in with the team.

"Ryan Walters, Tim Kish, and Mike Stoops are recruiting me and they tell me that they want me because they saw my film and I can play anywhere," Bowman said. "They want me next year and it would be an advantage to have a chance to play multiple positions and be able to blitz and run that type of defense."

When asked what his recruitment will come down to, Bowman was quick to one main characteristic that he will be looking for.

"The biggest thing is honesty with the coaches," he said. "Plenty of times schools come in and are dishonest and don't want tell a recruit anything that they might not want to hear."

Bowman is currently enjoying his recruitment and does not see a decision coming any time soon.

"I am not sure when I want to make a decision," he said. "I am going to enjoy the process when I can, but probably won't do it until during the season."
