Speculation started when Gary Williams announced on Friday that he was retiring as head coach of Maryland.
The initial coaching candidates list consisted of Mike Brey, Jamie Dixon, Jay Wright, and Sean Miller. However, it quickly became apparent that Miller was the top candidate and Maryland was going to move fast.
Sources close to Miller have always maintained that Maryland would be a job that he would be very interested in should it open up.
However, Williams' resignation came as a surprise, and it was definitely not expected to be open this soon.
Miller was in Las Vegas for a coaching clinic on Saturday and met with Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson regarding the job.
While the meeting last hours, the decision process did not, as it now seems Sean Miller will remain at Arizona.
WildcatAuthority.com will have more on this situation as details become available.
