Cats Showing Interest in Robinson

2012 Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol point guard Calaen Robinson holds three scholarship offers to date, but the prospect expects more offers to be headed his way this summer.

Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol point guard Calaen Robinson currently holds three offers. Arizona State, St. Mary's and BYU have already extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 163-pound athlete, but more programs are expected to join the party this summer.

Arizona is one of the schools in particular sending attention Robinson's way. Excited about the recent interest, Robinson is hoping to obtain an offer from the Wildcats soon.

"I've gotten a few calls from UA," he reports to "The talk with UA was actually nice, because I guess two of their players are leaving so now they're recruiting me harder this summer. All the colleges are basically going to come out and watch the tournaments in July."

Although his recruitment with Arizona is in the early stages, Coach James Whitford has offered Robinson some advice.

"He says that I just need to keep up the game," Robinson explains. "They've been watching me for a while, but they've got two guys that are coming in that are guards for 2011, so now they want one for 2012."

The junior hasn't narrowed anything down at this point and plans to take all five visits in the fall, but he does admit that Arizona is a school he would be excited about.

"I went there when I was little and it was a nice campus," he shares. "I just like how they win. They're actually a big time team. They had a few players come out of the NBA draft that are from UA."

Robinson knows that he has some work ahead of him, but in the end he feels that Arizona is a program he could fit in with.

"I could probably work on stuff that I need to work on—right hand, getting bigger, and becoming more of a true point guard," he says. "And then, I could definitely see myself fitting in."
