Wildcats add lineman

Arizona's 2012 class grew by one on Monday, as Santee (Calif.) Santana tight end decided to end his recruitment and commit to Arizona.

Often times we hear about players that make an impact at Arizona's camp and eventually earn an offer because of it.

In the case of 6-foot-6, 255-pound Santee (Calif.) Santana lineman T.D. Gross, that offer turned into a commitment.

Gross committed to Arizona on Monday after thinking about the schools recruiting him and where he felt most comfortable.

"I made the decision to commit on Monday," Gross said. "I went up there my sophomore year at camp and played tight end and then went back again and liked how they made a point of how close their team was.

"Arizona has good camaraderie and I liked how close everything is to campus and the fact that it is a college town."

In addition, Gross developed a strong relationship with the UA coaching staff, especially with one coach in particular.

"Coach Jeff Hammerschmidt was recruiting me and we have gotten closer," Gross said. "He has been talking to me for two years and we have been able to develop a good relationship."

Arizona was not the only school recruiting Gross, as he held other offers and was hearing from numerous schools as well.

"I was hearing from mainly Utah and actually just went on a trip there and then UNLV and UCLA," he said. "UCLA was close to offering me and UNLV and Utah also offered me as well."

With Gross likely to get more attention, does his commitment to Arizona end his recruitment?

"I am 100 percent going to Arizona," he said. "I don't plan on going on any other visits or talking to any other schools."
