Shaun Livingston update

When it all shakes out, Shaun Livingston may wind up being the top point guard recruit in the nation and one of the top players in the nation. He was well regarded last summer, but seems to have taken his game to the next level. Cat Tracks caught up with him and out who he's looking at.

Shaun Livingston has readjusted his top-5 just a bit. The 6-7 player from Peoria, Illinois say that he favors Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Duke and Louisville. The Illini are still in the hunt despite the departure of Bill Self to Kansas.

"I haven't met the new coach yet," said Livingston of the newly hired Bruce Webber at Illinois. "I need to talk to him. I really didn't watch SIU much, but know about them from the Tournament."

Livingston says he will visit Florida at the end of May and may visit Arizona for Midnight Madness.

He's had meetings with Lute Olson, Billy Donovan and Self and has not set a timetable to make a decision.

He is friends with Arizona's Andre Iguodala as well as Illinois bound Richard McBride, a high school teammate of Iguodala's. In fact he and the Wildcat freshman phenom speak on a regular basis.

"He calls and we talk, we get along pretty well," Livingston said. "He's from Springfield and I'm from Peoria, so we played a couple of times. I know him and he knows me. He's another Illinois guy."

Not only has Livingston been playing better, but he looks better. It is obvious he has gained confidence and has bulked up just a bit. He's now just a hair under 6-7, but knows he needs more work in the weight room.

"Some people just don't have the body type to add bulk," Livingston confessed. "I'm just working hard in the weight room and taking protein powder to try and get bigger.
