Arizona among Brooks' favorites

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon High School receiver Julian Brooks is looking hard at three schools and could be close to a decision. See what schools are competing for Brooks, what he thinks of Arizona, and more.

Arizona is a school known for quality talent and depth at the wide receiver position. Every year, the Wildcats attempt to land at least a couple of receivers in order to fill out the roster. In the spread offense, it's essential to be deep at the position.

One target from the 2012 class UA is showing interest in is Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon High School receiver Julian Brooks. The wideout has been in touch with Arizona receivers coach David Nichol for some time now and the two have established a good rapport.

"I met him last year at the end of last season and I told him that Arizona is basically my dream school," Brooks said. "We kind of just talked and automatically clicked. So we're really cool now."

Brooks took the time this summer to visit the UA campus and came away impressed with his experience.

"I visited in late June," Brooks said. "I loved it. I definitely feel like I fit in at Arizona." UA has the type of offensive system that fits Brooks perfectly and it has vaulted the Wildcats into the lead for his services. However, there are still other programs in the running.

"I'd say probably Arizona, ASU and probably Oregon State," Brooks said.

The spread offense is generally a pass-happy offense that appeals to a player of Brooks' ability. The Wildcats could be at an advantage with its system, which is very appealing to the wideout from Chatsworth.

"I love it," Brooks said. "They throw the ball a lot."

There is plenty of time before signing day in 2012 and there is a possibility other schools could target Brooks. The receiver has a few other programs he would be interested in if they were to offer.

"I'd definitely consider USC, Michigan and Miami," Brooks said.

Brooks still has a senior season ahead of him before hitting the college ranks. His high school coaches would like him to make a decision soon – which is a very big possibility – but for now, he is still open.

"I have some pressure coming from my coaching staff; they want me to commit early," Brooks said. "But I don't know if I want to play offense or defense and that kind of factors into my decision. Plus I haven't been to Arizona State or Oregon State, so I wanted to take a few visits first, but now I am not sure. I could commit to Arizona anytime soon."
