Fall Camp 8/16: Recap

WildcatAuthority.com was in attendance for Tuesday's practice. Read on to see who performed well, who got intercepted twice, and more.

After position drills, the team went into 7-on-7, and Nick Foles found Juron Criner across the middle on a short crossing route. On second down, Keola Antolin dropped a swing pass, which was followed up with a deep pass over the middle to David Douglas. On his last play of the series, Foles was forced to throw to Antolin in the flat as a result of the coverage from the defense.

Daxx Garman entered for Foles, and on his first throw he threw a deep ball for Gino Crump, which was a bit underthrown and as a result intercepted by Cortez Johnson. He went on to complete his next three passes, as he hit Garic Wharton and Daniel Jenkins twice on short routes.

Tom Savage was given a few reps, and he continued the trend of short routes by hitting Terrence Miller over the middle. On his second pass, he hit Antolin on a swing pass, and followed it up with completions to Douglas and Antolin again in the flat.

Foles re-entered and had a pass dropped by Taimi Tutogi, and hit Wharton on a crossing pattern on his next throw.

The team went into red zone drills and on the first play, Foles went for Juron Criner in the endzone, but the pass was broken up by Trevin Wade. On second down, Foles hit Crump for four yards before throwing a touchdown to David Douglas on a crossing route.

On the next series, Lyle Brown and Shaquille Richardson broke up Foles' next two passes before Foles found Antolin in the end zone for a touchdown.

The team moved into 11-on-11, and the defense immediately took over. In his first series, Foles threw three incompletions and was sacked by Mohammed Usman.

Garman had very little success himself, as he was sacked by Hank Hobson on his first play, and threw an incompletion on his first attempt. Foles re-entered for one play and had his pass broken up by Wade.

It was Garman's turn once again, and he was sacked by Justin Washington on his first play. He scrambled for two yards on his second play of the series, and completed a wide receiver screen to Austin Hill before giving way to Foles.

Douglas caught a pass for five yards before Foles hit Wharton on a crossing pattern. KaDeem Carey rushed the ball for five yards before Foles threw another incompletion.

It was Garman's turn once more, as he was actually able to have some success in his third series. Crump made an impressive catch on his first throw, and he went on to hit Sean Willett and Johnny Jackson on consecutive throws.

The offense finally got into the end zone after a Tutogi drop, when Foles hit Criner off a double move for a long touchdown. Foles handed to Kylan Butler on the next play for a short gain.

Butler carried once again on Garman's first play, and Mark Watley intercepted his next pass attempt. Aiulua Fanene made a tackle in the backfield on a Carey run, before Garman threw an incompletion intended for freshman David Richards.

After a 10-yard completion to Douglas on his first attempt back, Foles hit Crump deep for a touchdown over Shaquille Richardson. He finished the series by handing off to Jenkins and throwing away a pair of passes due to the strength of the coverage.

In his final series of the day, Garman never even had a chance to throw, as he was sacked by Jowyn Ward, Washington, and Dame Ndiaye on three consecutive plays.

It was back to Crump for Foles, as he hit the senior receiver once again for a deep touchdown over Richardson. Carey had a pair of runs, followed up by a completion to David Roberts underneath.

Practice ended with a goal line drill, and on first down the defense stuffed Jenkins. On second down, Foles overthrew Criner in the corner of the endzone, and on third down, Sione Tuihalamaka tackled Jenkins in the backfield for a loss. On the final play of practice, Marquis Flowers prevented Tutogi from catching a pass on the goal line, and preventing the offense from scoring inside the five yard line.
