Fall Camp 8/18: Recap

Cortez Johnson shined on defense and Gino Crump on offense, as Arizona had another practice on Thursday. Read on to see who else stood out.

Arizona is only days away from the end of Fall Camp, but until then there are a few more practices to be had.

In Thursday's 11-on-11 drill, Matt Scott found Patrick Onwuasor for a short gain. He then connected with Austin Hill on the left side and followed by finding Terris Jones on the right. Taimi Tutogi then had a short run and Nick Foles came in to end the drill.

Foles threw a deep ball to Austin Hill, who would have had a touchdown on the play. Scott then came right back in and found Gino Crump, who burned Robert Golden and Marquis Flowers, causing Mike Stoops and Ryan Walters to get angry.

From there, it moved to 7-on-7 and Foles found Richard Morrison on the first play. He then threw an incomplete pass intended for Hill and found Miller on the right side. On the next play, he connected to Miller in the same exact spot and Scott then entered.

Scott threw a completion to Tyler Slavin and then another to Michael Cooper before connecting with Daniel Jenkins, only to have the throw dropped. Johnny Jackson then got a completion and Scott followed with an incomplete pass before hitting Crump on the right side. Scott proceeded to throw another incompletion and then KaDeem Carey dropped it in the right flat.

Daxx Garman came in and completed two passes in a row to Jackson. Tra'Mayne Bondurant then almost picked off Garman on the next play and Scott came in. Trevin Wade had a fantastic play to break up Scott's passing attempt and Scott followed with an incompletion.

Scott then connected with Slavin on the right side and followed with Keola Antolin catching it on the left. Garman then came in and found Onwuasor, Jackson, and Trevor Ermisch to end the drill and move on to 11-on-11.

Foles started the drill and found Crump on a slant pattern and Hill on the left side. He then threw an incompletion and had Lyle Brown intercept his next attempt, as Cortez Johnson got a hand on it first. After the pick, Reggie Gilbert came up with a sack and Scott then entered the drill.

Scott started with a completion to Jackson on the left side, screen to Tutogi, and a short pass to Drew Robinson to the right before having a play in which he was forced to keep it himself.

Foles re-entered and completed a deep ball to Onwuasor, who beat Johnson for the catch. He then found Ermisch on the right side and Jenkins followed it with a short run. Pressure then caused Foles to throw an incomplete pass and he settled for a short pass to Tutogi on the next play.

Scott then entered and was sacked by Dame Ndiaye and Aiulua Fanene. On the next play, he found Jackson to the left and then hit Tutogi in the right flat. Garic Wharton dropped the next attempt, but made up for it with a completion on the next play. Scott then threw a completion to Onwuasor to the left side and Garman came in.

Garman's first play was blown dead due to pressure from a handful of linemen, including Ndiaye. Scott re-entered and handed it off to Jones before hitting Tutogi in the left flat and then completing a pass to Onwuasor. Wharton then caught a short pass and two plays later, Johnson came up with an interception.
