It's no secret that Arizona's offense has been a huge part of the team's success over the past three seasons. Every since the spread offense was implemented, UA has gone from having a stagnant offensive system to one of the most dangerous offensive attacks in its conference.
The Wildcats have been a team that loves to air it out in that timeframe. Arizona has utilized an offensive attack that favors the quarterback and it has paid off in a big way since the system changed.
Now in its fourth year under the spread, UA is going to rely heavily on the pass once again. It will be the third year the offense has been ran by Nick Foles, who is entering his senior season.
This past weekend's scrimmage marked the final such public event before the commencement of the 2011 campaign. It was an up-and-down showing by the offense – which included two interceptions thrown by the Wildcats' signal-caller -- but Foles isn't too worried about the unit's shortcomings.
"We made a couple of mistakes," Foles said. "But the thing is that I am not worried about the interceptions. I made the right reads, I just have to deliver the ball. The first one got tipped and the second one, I had it, I just had to deliver it."
It is going to be a tough season for the Wildcats given their schedule. Foles knows what lies ahead, but isn't too concerned with the offense as he has confidence in the support surrounding him.
"We are going to face adversity," Foles said. "I was never really worried because the defense wasn't doing anything that was flustering me. I felt comfortable. I felt the line was protecting me really well. We're a little spotty at times, but I am confident in our guys and I know what we have."
Regardless of how tough the upcoming season may be, Foles is going to continue putting in work in hopes that he can lead to his team to a big season. Despite the questions surrounding the team, Foles sees things coming together on both sides of the ball and is confident with the direction the team is going in heading into the campaign.
"We just have to keep going," Foles said. "We have to keep doing what we have been doing. I saw a lot of things tonight. The defense is really come along. Offensively, I am really confident in our guys. We just have to continue to get better. That's really the key."
