Arizona's Channing Frye is one of 52 of the top high school and college players who have accepted invitations to participate in the 2003 USA Basketball Men's National Team Trials. The players were invited by USA Basketball to attend the trials that will be held May 30-June 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Frye is the only Arizona
player or recruit attending the trials. The junior-to-be averaged 12.6 ppg and 8.0 rpg during his sophomore season. He shot 56.9% from the floor.
Frye struggled early in the season but, like his freshman season, came alive in conference play. He was one of the better big men in the Pac-10 this past season and will be a critical player for the Cats next season.
Last summer Frye traveled to Turkey and Italy on a five-game tour with NYC Hoops and ranked second on the team in scoring (13.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg).
