"I'm really excited, just the fact that my decision is over and I'll basically be signing off on it and making it official that I'll be going to Arizona," Ashley said. "I never thought my career would get to this point, that it would be this big and there would be this much excitement behind it."
For the nation's top ranked power forward, the decision to officially sign with Arizona is one that he's been ready to make for some time now.
"I kind of knew I wanted to go to Arizona for awhile," Ashley said. "I just really wanted to make sure I was making the right decision and everything. From coach Miller showing so much love throughout my whole entire high school career, I knew Arizona was the choice for me."
Making that decision even easier was a late October trip to Tucson for an official visit for Arizona's Red-Blue game, an experience that Ashley thoroughly enjoyed.
"My visit was amazing," Ashley said. "I enjoyed myself and met a lot of good people out there. I fell in love with Tucson. My decision was always made, but it reassured me that I was going to the right place."
With only a year to go in his high school career, Ashley is ready to come in and work under coach Miller and make his mark on the Arizona program with his fellow class of 2012 teammates.
"I'm really excited to play for coach Miller, he's a great coach," Ashley said. "He sent Derrick Williams to the league, sent Derrick Brown from Xavier. He's definitely produced some great players and he's great at developing players, so I'm really looking forward to that.
"I'm also excited to get in with the other 2012 guys, we have a nice class coming in. Kaleb Tarczewski, Gabe York, Grant Jerrett are all dudes that I've played against my whole entire career and people I know pretty well. We're going to have a real nice class next year and we're going to handle business."
While Ashley hasn't given much thought to his own goals, he has a very clear idea of what he wants to accomplish as a part of the Arizona Wildcats basketball program.
"My personal goals are to make sure I maintain my own basically, nothing to crazy," Ashley said. "As far as team goals, a National Championship is our main focus and we haven't even gotten there yet. We just really want to come in as a team and compete and handle business."
