It looked as if Arizona would come up with a stop when an option play faltered and the Buff lost 13 yards. However, on third and 23, Hansen found Clemons for 21 yards. The Buffs then went for it on fourth and two and Hansen found Tony Jones for the five-yard touchdown pass, as the missed extra point made it 13-3.

The Wildcats forced the Buffs to punt and two plays into Arizona's drive, Foles found Criner for 24 yards to the CU 40. Foles then found hit Hill for 12 yards and two plays later, Carey ran for 27 yards to the one-yard line. Arizona forced a punt on Colorado's next drive, but CU stopped Arizona from getting anything going as well, as Bonano missed a 57-yard field goal.

Starting at its own 40-yard line, Hansen found Clemons for 29 yards and after numerous small gains, CU had a trick play in which Stewart found hansen for a 14-yard touchdown pass, as the extra point made it 34-10 and seemingly ended the game.

Arizona then forced a three and out and took over on its own 16-yard line with a 12-yard pass to Terrence Miller. On the next play, Foles connected with Crump for 18 yards and then Antolin followed with a 20-yard run to get to the CU 34. Antolin then gained four on the ground, Douglas nine in the air, and then Crump for ten. On the next play, Foles connected with Douglas for the 11-yard touchdown, as the two-point conversion failed and UA was down 34-23.

The momentum did not last long, however, as Stewart kept running with success, gaining carries of six yards, 31, and then a touchdown for 11, as the extra point made it 40-23 with 7:42 left.

Ka'Deem Carey later added a one-yard touchdown, but it was too little, too late as Arizona's comeback just could not be completed.
