Lineman hoping for an offer

Arizona's new coaching staff has hit the state hard the past week. Read on to see an in-state lineman that could be close to an offer.

In the next few weeks there are numerous players that Arizona's new coaching staff will evaluate and then determine if an offer is in store.

One player that could be close to an offer is 6-foot-4, 330-pound Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral offensive lineman Alex Dickman.

Dickman has talked to Arizona's coaching staff for a while now and is hoping that the new staff comes forward with an offer.

"I'm not certain if Arizona will offer, but I really hope it offers me and I know that's a very realistic opportunity," Dickman said. "I just sent my film to Rich Rodriguez, so I'll see if that influences him to offer me right away."

While Dickman liked the previous coaching staff, he believes the hiring of Rodriguez will improve the program as a whole.

"I've been in contact with Arizona for a while since my junior year with Kish and Stoops," he said. "I feel with coach Rodriguez the program is going places, good places like BCS games."

As Dickman goes through the process, he has a good idea of what he will be looking for in a school.

"I'm looking for a school that has a solid, successful, competitive program as well as a good academic school," he said.

Dickman hopes that a school that fits his criteria finds he fits that school's criteria as well as he adds numerous benefits to a football team.

"My biggest strengths are definitely my size and strength and I need to work on getting even stronger to prepare for college," he said. "Right now I'm 330 pounds and I want to lose fat and gain even more muscle. Most of that 330 however is muscle believe it or not."

It is no secret that Rodriguez and Chaparral coach Charlie Ragle have had previous experience working together and Chaparral will likely be a major target for Rodriguez in the future. According to Dickman, a major reason for that is the overall attitude.

"Playing at a program like Chaparral helps me tremendously," he said. "We all push each other to get better all the time and it is amazing to be a part of. With so much talent on this team it is pretty exciting and that's what ultimately led us to winning our third straight state championship."

While Dickman would not name any favorites, he does admit that an Arizona offer would put the Wildcats in good shape.

"If they offer me, it definitely makes them high on my list," he said. "I'm open to all schools offering right now. I would like to make a decision by National Signing Day or just whenever the time is right to be honest."
