However, he is making the most of his opportunity at the Semper Fidelis practices these past few days and with two new coaching staffs in state, there is a good chance that Hood's recruitment will take off.
The Boston College commit is happy with his decision, but admits that he is still interested in hearing from other schools.
"I am committed to Boston College, but I am still looking at other places and talking to other schools," Hood said. "I only got to go on one trip. I am committed and I love Boston College, but I am still going to look around."
"It really has affected my recruitment a lot," Hood said. "ASU came to see me at school and had a good approach. Also, one of the coaches at Arizona told me that he looks forward to getting to know me more. I will definitely give both of those programs a shot."
Should Hood get an offer from an in-state program, he would not be ready to name it a favorite. However, either school would have a legitimate shot at landing him.
"I would take visits and see what both programs have to offer," Hood said. "I would definitely look into both schools."
Hood has previously said that he was leaning towards leaving Arizona to play his college football, but feel that would not hold him back from taking a close look at Arizona and Arizona State.
"If the in-state program is what is best for me then that is where I am going to go," he said. "I am going to choose the school that is best for me."
In terms of what that entails, Hood has a good idea of what he is looking for in a school.
"I am definitely looking at education and then after that it would be tradition," he said. "I like tradition and schools and location because I want to like where I am."
In addition to Arizona, there are two other schools that could be close to offering Hood and may get an official in the future.
"Michigan State and Washington are the main two I keep in contact with," Hood said. "Michigan State told me that if their big defensive tackle goes to the draft then I will probably be in line for an offer and with Washington I am waiting to see what happens with their recruiting numbers."
With numerous schools looking at Hood, what would it take for him to not go to Boston College?
"It would just have to be a better system and better fit for me," he said. "I feel like I can play anything. At Boston College I will likely play a three technique. Some schools have talked to me about losing weight and being a rush end."
