However, the 6-foot-9, 230-pound 2013 four-star still has plans to come back this season in time for the most important part.
"I am recovering real fast," Hamilton said. "I am expected to be back for state playoffs, which starts in March. It was tough at first and kind of got to me mentally, but I just stayed with it and got my parents and team supporting me, so I have my spirits up and I am ready to get back out there."
"It has been a little slow right now because there has not been anything new major," he said. "I can't even really say the schools coming at me the hardest."
Hamilton may not be able to name those schools, but admits that Arizona is still recruiting him heavily, especially since he has already been on campus.
"I love Arizona," Hamilton said. "Coming from Chicago, there are no storms. I love the weather, love the campus, and love the facilities. Arizona is just awesome."
As Hamilton goes through the process, he is taking a unique perspective in terms of what he is looking for in a school.
"I am looking for a good strength and conditioning coach and a guy that is good with sports medicine," Hamilton said. "I am big, so there is always something nagging, so that will be important."
Hamilton is in no rush to make a decision and says that he will sit down after the season and proceed from there.
"I really do not have any visits or anything like that planned," Hamilton said. "I will probably sit down after the season and figure everything out.
"I am not in a rush to make a decision. I want to look at everything and then when it just feels right I will be able to decide."
