"We're in the state tournament right now," said the 6-foot-4 Hamilton. "We play West Covina High School next and then after two more games we should be in the championship. We're a pretty good team and we have high expectations. We're just trying to work hard and hopefully we will end up state champions."
While Hamilton is focused on the rest of his junior season, he plans on concentrating on his recruitment after the season.
"Once the season is over I'm going to take a hard look at schools," Hamilton said. "I don't have a particular favorite, but I do like Arizona, Colorado, UConn, Louisville, Miami, Maryland, UCLA, USC, Washington and Washington State. A lot of these schools have been recruiting me for a long time and I plan on carefully looking at all of them."
Although Hamilton is being recruited by much of the country, he likes what he sees and hears from Arizona.
"They've been recruiting me since my freshman year," Hamilton said. "They've offered me, but we haven't talked in awhile. I've always liked Arizona, and Coach Miller and Coach Book are cool guys. They've also recruited a bunch of Los Angeles area kids, which is a good thing. They're definitely a school that I want to learn more about and see where things stand."
Hamilton is continually learning about the schools involved and says he is in no rush to make a commitment.
"I've got a lot of schools recruiting me that I really like," Hamilton said. "They all have things that I'm looking for in a school. I just want to find a school with a good coach and an atmosphere that I'm comfortable with.
"I'm going to take my time and really see where the right fit is, but I think I'll know when I want it."
In addition to finding a college, Hamilton also has one more choice he is going to need to make.
"I'm still not sure which AAU team I'm going to run with this summer," Hamilton said. "I've got to figure that out before I choose a college."
