"I'm playing with the USA basketball team this summer and I really want to focus on that," Johnson said. "It's definitely a big honor and it's something I want to take advantage of. It will also give me a chance to work on my game and play against great players."
Before Johnson plays for his country, he must finish out his sophomore season.
"Were rolling through the playoffs," Johnson said. "We just won the regional state championship and now were heading north to play Sheldon High School. We're pretty confident we will continue to win, but we have to stay focused."
Once the season is over, Johnson has a good idea of what he wants to work on.
"I want to improve my ball handling and perimeter game in general," Johnson said. "I also really want to work on my shooting and using my inside outside/outside game to my advantage. Colleges are recruiting me as a two or three so I need to keep working on those skills. I really want to work on my body as well - just eating right and getting really fit."
While Johnson will be occupied for much of the coming months, he does want to look further into his recruiting situation.
"I'm ready to look at schools," Johnson said. "It's hard because I don't have a lot of time, but Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, USC, Texas, North Carolina, Syracuse, and St John's are all schools I'd like to check out."
Johnson has become a priority recruit for the Arizona coaching staff.
"They have been out here a couple times," Johnson said. "I haven't been able to talk to them a lot lately because I've been busy, but they're recruiting me really hard. I really want to get out there for a visit and see how it is."
While Johnson can pick his collegiate destination, don't expect him to make any decision soon.
"I'm not in any rush to make a decision," Johnson said. "The way things look now I will probably decide during my senior year. I would like to decide in the early signing period, but I can wait if I need to."
