Korcheck makes it official

Cochise Junior College forward Matt Korcheck has officially decided to become a Wildcat. Read on to see what type of player Arizona is getting and more.

Matt Korcheck's recruitment came down to whether or not he would get an offer from Arizona and now that he has, the decision was seemingly easy.

"I am definitely calling Monday to commit to Arizona and if the papers are available I will sign also," Korcheck said Sunday.

The 6-foot-9 Cochise Junior College forward averaged 14 points and six rebounds per game in his sophomore season while adding 1.5 assists and blocks per game as well.

Korcheck came down to Oklahoma and Arizona, and when the Wildcats hosted him for an unofficial visit earlier last week, it seemed that he would be taking an official visit next weekend.

Since Arizona only has one official left to give, the writing was on the wall that Korcheck would be coming to Arizona or at least that the coaching staff would be aggressively recruiting him.

The decision was made by Korcheck this past weekend to forgo the official visit once the coaching staff let him know that he had an offer and the rest is history.

The plan is for Korcheck to redshirt his first year and that idea actually played a large role in his recruitment, as sources say Arizona would not have been an option if that was not the case.
