Wildcats going hard after linebacker

DeAndre Miller was recently offered by Arizona and the Wildcats have not let up. Read on for a closer look into Miller's recruitment, including his thoughts on Arizona.

Arizona has a history of finding overlooked in-state recruits who come in and outperform expectations.

2013 Buckeye (Ariz.) middle linebacker DeAndre Miller appears to fit that mold.

"Recruiting has been kind of slow," Miller said. "But I have been hearing from schools and I seem to be getting more interest of late. I just want to go to a school and work hard to open some eyes.

"My dream is to play college football and I will keep working hard to achieve that goal."

While Miller has been overlooked by many west coast schools, Arizona has made him a priority.

"The University of Arizona coaching staff has been recruiting me pretty hard," Miller said. "Coach Lockwood has been in contact with me and he's a really cool guy.

"I was down there earlier this year and everything was very impressive. The coaches are always coaching and everyone is really focused on getting better. It was impressive seeing everyone going so hard and they really coach the defensive guys. It's definitely a school with a lot of positives."

Miller's recruiting situation is fluid and he could make a decision at any time.

"Ideally, I would like to make a decision before my senior season starts," Miller said. "I don't really have one school that sticks way out, so I'm not going to rush it. If I find a school and the time feels right, I'll commit. I probably will decide either before the season or after it.

"Our team has a chance to be pretty good. We were 9-3 last year and we think we can improve on that. My main goal is to win state and I want to focus on that during the season."

Distance will not be a big factor in Miller's college choice.

"I'm from Alaska," Miller said. "Alaska is way out there, so I won't be scared to travel for college."
