Montgomery taking his time

Kalan Montgomery has already visited Arizona and came away impressed. Read on to see where Arizona stands now, what other schools are involved, and more.

It's no secret that Southern California is home to many of the best high school football players and programs in the country.

Chief among these programs is Dominguez (Calif.) High School. Next year's Dominguez team has multiple D-I prospects, including 2013 cornerback Kalan Montgomery.

He was recently on the UA campus and came away impressed.

"I was down there earlier and I had a good time," Montgomery said. "I got to check the place out and also talk with the coaches. The coaches say they're recruiting guys to make an early impact and they believe I can do that.

"I learned more about the place and it was a good visit." Although he is enjoying the summer break, Montgomery is working hard to improve his skills.

"There are a couple things I want to work on this summer," Montgomery said. "Obviously I need to continue to get stronger and work hard with the weights. The other thing I really want to work on is getting in and out of my breaks and staying in proper position.

"Some of the stuff I can get away with in high school I probably won't be able to get away with in college, so working on form and technique is a big priority for me."

Montgomery doesn't plan on ending his recruitment any time soon.

"I plan on taking all five trips," Montgomery said. "All the schools recruiting me I'm interested in. I have no clue where I'm going to trip to, but it's all good because I have a lot of time to make the decision.

"I'll sit down and figure that stuff out eventually. Right now, I plan on waiting as long as possible because it's a very big decision that I'm going to make."
