They hope that La Cueva (N.M.) pass rusher Calvin Allen turns out to be one of those players.
"The coaches say I'll play rush end," Allen said. "They like the fact that I'm tall and I can move well because I play basketball as well. They want me to continue to work and train hard, and they believe I can play early if things go right."
Allen is excited about taking his talents to the college level, but he is currently busy with his high school team.
"Were busy right now," Allen said. "We've started two-a-days and everything is intense because we have big goals as a team."
In terms of what Allen is working on, he says that his training has a lot to do with visualization.
"Individually, I worked hard this summers on a lot of different things," Allen said. "I lifted hard and tried to train right. I also tried to think about things that I can control. I tried to visualize playing with good technique and playing with proper pad level."
For those schools still looking to recruit Allen, the defensive end believes it is a complete waste of time.
"I'm still getting some pressure from local schools to check them out but not a lot else," Allen said. "I'm sold on where I want to go and it's kind of a waste of time to try and recruit me. I still have more high school, but I'm already thinking about the next level."
