Tucson lineman adding offers

Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic's John Kadous is yet another talented offensive lineman out West in what is shaping up to be one of the deepest years at the position in recent memory. The lineman spent some time in the Midwest and has two new offers on the table as a result.

Kadous is one of the nation's biggest lineman and has actually lost some weight to get down to 6-7, 310 pounds. He's a two time Student Sports Underclass All-American and shows up pretty well on film although we had some concerns with his overall athleticism.

"That has been a concern for colleges as well," Salpointe head coach Dennis Bene said. "The thing is, John has lost weight and his feet are much quicker and have improved tremendously. He has also gotten a lot stronger. He camped with Notre Dame and they liked the way he moved enough to offer him a scholarship.

"John also has offers from Northwestern and Arizona. More than likely, John will go through the recruiting process as I don't see him committing anywhere early."

John echoed his coach's statements in an earlier interview.

"Me and my parents are going to visit a few other schools," Kadous told IrishEyes.com last week. "We're going to take a West Coast tour. We're visiting UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Oregon, and Washington sometime in late July. Those schools, along with Notre Dame are the schools that I'm going to focus on. I won't make a decision anytime soon. After I take the trips I'm going to set up official visits. I'm not really in a rush to decide. I hear how recruits take one or two official visits. I'm going to take all five of mine."

Kadous has taken a number of unofficial visits to Arizona and both he and his coaches are familiar with the Arizona staff and program. Kadous has exposure to the players and the Salpointe staff has been to a number of Wildcat practices.

He is also said to be interested in Miami.
