While Phoenix is where the majority of the in-state talent is located, Tucson can be counted on to produce one or two Division-1 players each year.
Sabino High School is loaded with college prospects and the UA staff is doing everything possible to impress those kids.
Sabino junior offensive tackle Andrew Mike is one of those top players and was on hand for the Toledo game and came away impressed.
"It was a good game," Mike said. "Even though Toledo was very competitive, Arizona showed they were tough-minded and able to pull it out. The atmosphere was nice and it was cool to see everything first-hand."
Mike is in the early stages of the recruiting process, but he is getting more attention by the day.
"I've gotten more interest lately," Mike said. "As of now, I have offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Utah, and BYU.
"I'm getting interest from some other schools, but those are the offers I have right now."
It is still a little early for Mike, thus recruiting isn't the main thing on his mind.
"I want to continue to get better individually, and we want to have a big year this year," Mike said. "Our team has a lot of talent and we really want to win state. We're off to a good start, but we've got a ways to go.
"I'm really working on my feet and quickness because there are a lot of fast guys out there that I have to go against."
Mike is still gathering information on different colleges and doesn't plan on making a quick decision.
"I'm probably not going to decide soon," Mike said. "I want to focus on the season and see where that leads. I'm just taking it a day at a time right now."
