Arizona upsets Oklahoma State

Arizona was able to come up with the big win over Oklahoma State on Saturday night. read on for a complete look at how it all went down.

Arizona's defense made the stops when it needed to and the offense came up big all night long, as the UA defeated Oklahoma State 59-38 Saturday night at Arizona Stadium.

Oklahoma State started on its own 39-yard line and the Wildcats forced third down before Joseph Randle picked up 14 yards for the first down. Three plays later, quarterback Wes Lunt found Blake Jackson for a 28-yard reception and it only took a few more plays before Lunt found Tracy Moore for the nine-yard touchdown as the extra point made it 7-0 with 13:03 left in the first quarter.

Arizona tried to get something going with a 13-yard pass to Dan Buckner, who caught one for ten yards two plays later. Three plays after that, Austin Hill caught a 15-yard pass to Oklahoma State's 30-yard line. Unfortunately, Matt Scott was sacked and the drive stalled, as the Wildcats eventually turned it over with an incompletion on fourth down.

Oklahoma State started with 21 combined yards in three plays before Jeremy Sith gained 18 on the next two. After a holding call, Lunt found Moore for a 30-yard touchdown, as he beat Shaquille Richardson for his second score of the game.

Two plays into Arizona's drive, Oklahoma State defensive tackle Calvin Barnett was called for two personal fouls that put Arizona at the Cowboys' 30-yard line. After two short runs by Ka'Deem Carey, Richard Morrison caught a 12-yard pass and two plays later scored on a 15-yard reception, as the UA cut it to 14-7 with 5:19 left in the first quarter.

Two plays into the Oklahoma State drive, Joseph Randle fumbled and Jake Fischer recovered, giving the Wildcats the ball at the 29-yard line. The Wildcats got to the 11 two plays later when an Oklahoma State defender was called for a late hit on Dan Buckner. The drive then stalled and on fourth and goal from the three-yard line, John Bonano nailed a 21-yard field goal to make it 14-10 with three minutes left in the first quarter.

Arizona finally forced Oklahoma State into a three and out due in large part to a holding penalty. Arizona took over on the Cowboys' 37-yard line with an 11-yard pass from Scott to Tyler Slavin. Two plays later, Terrence Miller caught a six-yard pass to end the first quarter. Scott got sacked on third down and Bonano came in and made a 46-yard field goal to make it 14-13 in favor of Oklahoma State.

Arizona's defense held once again and the drive started on its own 27 with a nine-yard pass to Taimi Tutogi. Two plays later, Hill grabbed a 33-yard pass. The drive then stopped, forcing Bonano to come in and attempt a 24-yard field goal as the make gave the Wildcats a 16-14 lead with 11:46 left in the first half.

The teams then exchanged possessions before Oklahoma State got the ball back on its own 38-yard line after a ten-yard punt by Scott. The Wildcats proceeded to stop Oklahoma State for the fifth straight series and a penalty gave the Wildcats the ball on their own 34.

The UA started the drive with an 11-yard pass to Hill followed by a six-yard run by Scott. Carey then gained five yards in the air and followed with seven on the ground. Two plays later, Hill caught a 21-yard pass and three plays after that, Scott found Slavin for a ten-yard gain to the one. Carey was able to score on the ensuing play and the extra point made it 23-14 with a little over three minutes left in the first half.

The Cowboys tried to put up some points before the end of the half as Lunt found Moore for a 13-yard pass and Randle followed with a seven-yard run. Two plays later, Smith ran for 15 yards and after a five-yard reception by Randle, Jared Tevis came up with an interception off a tipped pass by Jonathan McKnight, allowing Arizona to go into the half up 23-14.

Arizona started the second half on its own 25-yard line with a 12-yard reception by Carey that had a personal foul added onto it. Three plays later, Scott found Morrison for a seven-yard run then gained the first on a three-yard run on fourth down. Two plays later, Buckner caught a 13-yard pass and gained 11 more two plays after that.

Oklahoma State then forced a third down and blitzed, but the offensive line picked it up and Scott found Carey for a 13-yard touchdown as the extra point made it 30-14 with 9:59 left in the third quarter.

Needing an answer, Randle gained 18 yards on a reception two plays into Oklahoma State's drive. Three plays later, he gained 13 on the ground and Isaiah Anderson followed with 17 yards in the air. Two plays after that, Blake Jackson gained 14 in the air and Moore scored once again on the next play, as the extra point made it 30-21 with 7:47 left in the third quarter.

Oklahoma State was able to get the ball back and started the drive at its own 19-yard line with a 25 pass by Jackson followed by a 14-yard run by Randle. Three plays later, Randle gained ten on the ground, Stewart eight in the air, and Anderson 9 more in the air. ON the next play, Smith ran it in from ten yards out and the extra point made it 30-28 with 4:54 left.

Arizona did not take long to get going, as Scott found Hill for a 44-yard reception. Carey then gained 15 on the ground and Morrison caught a nine-yard reception. Two plays later, Scott scored from eight yards out on a keeper and the extra point made it 37-28 with 3:16 left in the third.

Oklahoma State tried to match it on its next drive with a 42-yard pass from Lunt to Stewart followed by two carries for a combined 11 yards by Randle. Three plays later, Jackson caught a 16-yard pass and a personal foul put Oklahoma State in field goal position. Arizona was able to force that field goal, as the 25-yard make made it 37-31 to end the third quarter.

Oklahoma State tried to get the lead on its next drive starting with a 20-yard pass to Stewart. Two plays later, Anderson caught one for 12 yards and Arizona was able to force third down. On third down, Arizona pressured Lunt into a bad throw and Jonathan McKnight came up with the 48-yard pick six as a two-point conversion pass to Tutogi made the game 45-31 with 10:24 left.

Arizona was able to force a three and out before it took over on its own 25-yard line with 8:53 left in the fourth. Unfortunately, nothing got going for Arizona and the Wildcats punted to Oklahoma State's 20.

Oklahoma State needed a score badly and instead, Lunt threw an interception to Tevis who took the ball back to the Oklahoma State 33-yard line. Carey gained five yards to start the drive and two plays later, was able to score from 25 yards out as the extra point gave the Wildcats the 52-31 lead. Oklahoma State was able to answer starting with a 19-yard pass to Jackson. Three plays later, Smith ran for 23 yards and then Lunt was able to find Moore for a 22-yard touchdown.

Arizona recovered the onside kick and Carey would later add another touchdown, as the Wildcats sealed the deal.
