Pickens planning visit

Dorian Pickens was recently visited by Arizona head coach Sean Miller. Read on to see how that visit went, what other schools did the same, and much more.

Dorian Pickens is an in-state prospect who UA basketball fans should follow closely over the next few years. Pickens received his first D-I offer last summer from ASU and has garnered more offers since, including one from UA.

Sean Miller recently visited with Pickens and the Pinnacle High School wing came away impressed.

"It was great to see Coach Miller again," Pickens said. "He came by and watched me work out, then we talked for quite awhile about life and basketball. He's a great guy to talk with because he's down to earth, but is totally focused on basketball. I like him a lot."

For Pickens, the next step in his recruitment from Arizona is to visit the campus sometime soon.

"I've been down there before on an unofficial and it was fun," Pickens said. "I got to see the campus, which is absolutely beautiful and I also got to check out the facilities.

"I want to get back down there soon just to check on things and see what's going on. Arizona's reputation speaks for itself and I feel grateful that I've been offered a scholarship."

Although there are numerous schools that have been recruiting Pickens for a while now, others are starting to join the recruitment as well.

"I've gotten more attention of late," Pickens said. "In the next few weeks I'm going to take quite a few unofficial visits and check out some schools. I'm going to trip to Georgetown, Syracuse, West Virginia, and maybe another school or two."

After he completes his visits, Pickens will take a break of sorts from recruiting and focus on his junior season of high school.

"I want to win State really bad," Pickens said. "I've got two more years and each season is incredibly important. You can't leave anything on the court in practice because it will show in the game. I plan on working hard so that doesn't happen."
