Lawson highly interested in Arizona

JaJuan Lawson is likely going to be one of the top players in the west in 2014. Read on for his thoughts on Arizona, what he is looking for in a school, and more.

Matt Scott is playing at a record-setting pace, but unfortunately for UA fans this is the senior quarterback's last season.

Rich Rodriguez believes in taking a quarterback each class and one of his top targets in 2014 is Casa Grande (Calif.) junior quarterback JaJuan Lawson.

"I like Arizona a lot," Lawson said. "I've been on quite a few unofficials to big-name places like Southern California and UCLA, but I have to say the Arizona visit was the best.

"I got to take a pretty in-depth visit of the school. I got to check out the facilities, the campus, and even meet with the school president. It was a very enjoyable visit and answered a lot of questions."

Lawson plans on taking his time with the recruiting process.

"I've been to a lot of schools," Lawson said. "But I would like to closely check out even more schools like Washington, California, and Oregon. All those schools are fairly close so travel-wise it works well."

Lawson will take more visits when this season is over.

"I'm taking a little break right now," Lawson said. "We're in the middle of a very good high school season.

"I'm happy with how I'm doing individually. I'm averaging 200 yards a game passing and 92 yards a game rushing with quite a few touchdowns."

Lawson attributes his success to paying attention to detail.

"I've really focused on my footwork and playing at the right tempo," Lawson said. "I'm just trying to take advantage of the skills I have and focusing on the little things has really helped me take my game to the next level."
