Junior lineman discusses visit

Troy Kowalski is one of the best linemen in the state for 2014. Read on for his thoughts on a recent unofficial, Arizona's program, and more.

A slew of in-state football recruits have visited UA in the past few weeks and one of those prospects is 6-foot-4, 260-pound Phoenix Mountain Ridge junior offensive tackle Troy Kowalski.

"The coaches have been trying to get me out there for a game and I was lucky enough to make it out for the Washington game," Kowalski said. "Man, Arizona looked good.

"I thought they might win, but the way they went out and destroyed Washington was very impressive. The crowd was into the game and cheering like crazy.

Kowalski says that he was able to briefly talk with Rich Rodriguez.

"He came over to me briefly while they were warming up on the field," Kowalski said. "He just let me know they are keeping an eye on me. There were some other in-state kids there and he was trying to make the rounds to everyone, which was hard considering they were about to play a big game."

Kowalski is receiving attention from many other schools as well.

"Besides Arizona, I'm getting interest from NAU, Utah, and Missouri," Kowalski said. "I would like to major in business, so that will be a factor, along with football, in whatever school I decide to attend.

"There are a couple other schools recruiting me and I will definitely come up with a list of places I want to visit after the season, but I have to finish my junior season first."

Kowalski is making the most out of an otherwise challenging junior season.

"We're four and five right now," Kowalski said. "We would like to have a better record, but it didn't work out that way. Hopefully we'll win out and get into the playoffs.

"Win or lose, I'm trying to do things the right way by focusing on my opponent while continuing to maintain proper footwork and leverage."
