"The program seems to be doing good things," McClain said. "I would like to get down there and check out the school. We're in the process of trying to set something up.
"They're looking for defensive backs and they say there is an opportunity to compete for a job."
While there are certain schools McClain is interested in, he is still in the early stages of the recruiting process.
"I've been to Iowa State," McClain said. "I'm also being recruited by Pittsburgh, Illinois, and West Virginia. I'm taking a visit to Pittsburgh in December, but other than that nothing has been set up."
In the meantime, McClain is working on improving his football skills.
"I'm doing a lot of drills to improve my quickness and strength," McClain said. "Besides the physical stuff, I'm trying to be a better student of the game by studying tape and stuff like that.
"I'm trying to do everything to ease my transition to college football. It's such a different game. Guys are so much bigger and faster and along with those two things they have an idea of how things go. Every player has to make the transition and I'm just trying to ease that aspect of it."
McClain doesn't have a definitive time frame for when he expects to make a decision.
"I'm just taking it step by step," McClain said. "I don't want to lock myself into an exact date for a decision.
"I'm going to take my visits, then sit down with my family and coaches and try to decide which school is best for me and my future."
