Johnson ready to make plays

T.J. Johnson feels that he is a great fit for Arizona's offense. Read on to see why, when he knew he was going to be a Wildcat, his message to Arizona fans, and more.

Cape Coral (Fla.) Island Coast running back T.J. Johnson went into the recruiting process with a pretty clear idea about the attributes he was looking for in a school.

"I wanted to find a place where I was on the same page with the coaches and a place with a fun student life, and I had a pretty good idea that I wanted to go to Arizona when I was on my visit," Johnson said.

Still, Johnson wanted to take his time before making a final decision.

"I didn't want to commit because I still wanted to check out some other schools, but I knew from the visit that Arizona seemed like a really good fit for me," he said.

"The campus is beautiful and it was really easy to imagine myself there."

Johnson is excited to see how fits in Rodriguez's system.

"I love Coach Rodriguez's offense," Johnson said. "When you watch them, you can just see how explosive and well coached they are, then you consider the fact it was his first year at the school and it really speaks volumes."

Johnson believes he will fit in well with what Arizona wants to do because of how Rodriguez uses speed.

"He told us his main objective is to get guys in space to make plays and he's not just one of these coaches who says we're going to play a certain way and then doesn't," Johnson said. "He's all about tempo and I love that."

In addition to his play-calling, Johnson clicked with Rodriguez's personality as well.

"He's also a cool guy who is pretty down to earth and just doesn't tell you what you want to hear," Johnson said. "We're young men and he treats you as such. I'm just very happy to be a Wildcat."

While many recruits are scrambling to figure out their academic situations, Johnson already has a career path in mind.

"I plan on majoring in sports medicine," Johnson said. "I've been around sports my whole life and I'm interested in the medical aspect of it, so it was a natural fit."

Finally, Johnson has a message for UA football fans.

"Be ready for next season; it's going to be fun and we're going to play hard for everyone."
