Beachum waiting for an offer

American Canyon (Calif.) athlete Malik Beachum recently visited Arizona. Read on to see how the visit went, his thoughts on the process, and more.

American Canyon (Calif.) 2014 athlete Malik Beachum was one of many high school football recruits at UA's junior day.

"I had a good time at the junior day," Beachum said. "I got to talk with the coaches and see the campus, which was nice."

Arizona has not yet offered Beachum, but let him know that it feels he can fit in well with the offense.

"The coaches said they see me as a slot receiver because my quickness would fit in well there," he said. "The coaches also said they want more slot receivers and guys who are versatile and can cause a bunch of different problems for opposing defenses."

Beachum agrees with Arizona's assessment that he would be better on the offensive side of the ball.

"Some schools are recruiting me as an athlete and I feel that I can be a really good defensive back, but I still think I'm best on offense," he said.

In addition to football, Beachum excels in other sports as well.

"I just got done playing basketball," Beachum said. "We didn't do very well, but it was fun and I played well and it definitely helped out my endurance and conditioning.

"Now that basketball is over, I'm going to work really hard on getting faster. I feel like I'm already fast, but I can always get faster along with getting stronger and getting better endurance."

Beachum plans on taking his time, but is leaving the door open for a possible early commitment.

"Right now I plan on taking all five visits," Beachum said. "I've been to a couple places and it was a good time. That being said I think there is a possibility that I could commit early, but its got to be the right place.

"I don't want to commit just to commit and then get second thoughts later on. That's why I want to see what is out there and what other schools have to offer."
