Wilson excited about decision

Nick Wilson is the second four-star to commit to Arizona in this class. Read on to see his thoughts on why he did it, what his future holds, and more.

One position Rich Rodriguez has excelled at recruiting is running back and UA recently received a commitment from one of the highest rated backs on the west coast in Fresno (Calif.) Central East junior Nick Wilson.

"I felt it was just time to commit," Wilson said. "I really liked the school. The city of Tucson is great. I love the campus, the city and above all, the coaches."

In addition, Wilson feels that Arizona is headed in the right direction.

"You can tell the program is on the verge of big things and I want to be part of it," he said. "I had some other really nice options, but no other school showed me the love Arizona did."

Wilson has an idea of the role he will play in college.

"The coaches tell me I remind them a lot of Ka'Deem Carey and they want to use me in a similar role." Wilson said. "It's kind of uncanny how similar we are.

"We both have very similar body types and our running style really takes a toll on the defense. Right now I'm at 195, but I'm trying to get to 205 or 210 by the time I get to Arizona."

As of now, Wilson believes that he will have a good opportunity to contribute early.

"Coach Rodriguez told me that while he likes to have a feature back, his system dictates that multiple guys be ready to play and that if I work hard I could play early," Wilson said.

One of the advantages to Wilson's early commitment is that he can focus on getting better and enhancing his academic standing.

"I plan on majoring in criminal justice," Wilson said. "Getting my academics in line will be one of my next steps, but everything is going fine on that front.

"I'm 100 percent committed to Arizona and it's a dream come true to find a school that has everything I'm looking for."
