Arizona offers lineman

Arizona offered defensive lineman Kammy Delp on Tuesday. Read on for his reaction, timeline, and more.

At 6-foot-4, 305 pounds, Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch defensive tackle Kammy Delp is one of the biggest linemen in the west and the Arizona coaching staff has noticed.

"I've gotten new offers this week from Fresno State and Arizona," Delp said. "The Arizona coaches have had a lot of good stuff to tell me.

"They thought from watching my tape I was a lot shorter than I am, so when they saw me up close they were very surprised at how tall I am. A few hours later they offered me a scholarship."

The offer has intrigued Delp and he would like to look into Arizona more.

"The coaches were so excited to get in touch with me and it was just unique," he said. "It's a school that I'm definitely interested in and I would like to check out a little bit more."

Delp is still trying to figure out his plans for the next few months.

"I'm not sure about all my summer plans yet," Delp said. "I plan on going to some local camps like Oregon State and Cal Poly, but other than that, nothing is set in stone."

Early playing time will play a factor in Delp's decision.

"I just want to find a school where I can contribute early, but I honestly don't even have a list of favorite schools," Delp said. "I'm prepared to go anywhere in the country. Distance is not a factor at all.

"Besides the football part, I would like to find a school with a well thought of business program, because that is what I plan on majoring in."

In terms of a decision, Delp plans on taking his time picking a school.

"It's going to be quite awhile before I decide," Delp said. "If I'm fortunate enough to get invited to one of the all-star bowl games, I might announce then. If not, I will probably just announce once the season is over."
