Recruiting Reset: Defensive line

Arizona is in good standing with numerous defensive linemen. Read on for a closer look at who they are and where Arizona stands with each.

Ainuu Taua: Taua is a monster and is easily one of the best defensive linemen in the west. Unfortunately for Arizona, it is working from behind right now. The general belief is that Taua will wind up at UCLA unless something dramatic happens. Arizona will continue to recruit Taua, but it just seems very unlikely right now.

Jalen Jelks: Jelks has been somewhat quiet with his recruitment, but Arizona was one of the first schools to offer. At this point, he is completely open and it makes sense because we have the feeling his recruitment is going to explode. He can easily play on both sides of the ball and will be a priority for numerous schools in the west. Arizona will work to get him on campus this summer and considering how open he is, we're giving Arizona as good of a chance as any.

Shariff Williams: Williams is another player that wants to take his time with his recruitment, but Arizona should be right there in the end. He is a teammate of Arizona commit Nick Wilson and wants to visit campus with him. Williams is going to camp at numerous schools, most of which are in California, in hopes of getting an offer. Even if he gets more in-state offers, you have to think Arizona is going to be right in the thick of things. The coaching staff is not complaining about its position right now.

Nifae Lealao: Arizona is trying to get into Northern California more, but that could take some time. Lealao is likely to stay closer to home, as Cal and Stanford have made him major priorities. The interesting aspect of his recruitment is that Lealao wants to take all of his officials and they will be to out of state schools. Arizona would obviously love for one of those visits to be to Tucson, so that is something to keep an eye on.

Dante Sawyer: The Wildcats continue to recruit Georgia and have a chance to get Sawyer on campus, although it will be difficult to get him out of the SEC. He has offers from a ton of schools and Alabama is probably the leader in his recruitment right now. Again, it will not be easy by any means, but Arizona is working to get him on campus and hopefully make some type of impact. The main issue with that is that Sawyer wants to decide in August, so things would have to move quickly.

Matt Dickerson: Dickerson will be visiting campus this weekend, so we will probably know more about his recruitment after that. However, it is definitely a good sign that Arizona is able to get Dickerson on campus in the middle of the school year. Dickerson has offers from UCLA, Arkansas, and more, so he is going to have plenty of schools to choose from. He would also be a major get for the Wildcats and it seems they are right in there.

Kurt Holuba: It is never easy to get a kid to go west, but Arizona has some good connections there. Holuba is a Penn State legacy, so an offer from it would likely change the recruitment dramatically. Until that offer comes, Holuba seems to be wide open and Arizona has a chance here, especially with the connections it has to New Jersey. Holuba wants to take his recruitment slowly, so look for the Wildcats to try to get him on campus.

Sione Takitaki: Takitaki is going to be very difficult to get away from BYU, as he is a devout Mormon and has plenty of history with the school. However, he has not committed there yet, which could be an indication that he wants to look at options. Wisconsin is his most recent offer and there is potential for his recruitment to grow. Arizona is going to keep working, but it will not be easy.
