Local receiver taking his time

Kaelin Deboskie recently got an offer from Oklahoma State and is waiting for others. Read on for more on his recruitment, where Arizona stands, and more.

The 2014 Tucson high school football class is one of the best in city history and there are nearly a half dozen kids with high-major offers.

One of those players is Salpointe wide receiver, Kaelin Deboskie.

"Right now I'm just playing spring football," Deboskie said. "The Arizona coaches were out there watching me recently and they have said that I look good and that they plan on watching me again soon. I hear from them from time to time, but I don't have an offer or anything."

Even if Arizona offers Deboskie, the school figures to encounter major competition for the 2014 prospect's services.

"Oklahoma State is my leader right now," Deboskie said. "It's a really good program and they run an offense I like. I plan on getting out there sometime soon to check the place out.

"I would also like to visit some of the other places that have offered me, which would be places like North Texas and New Mexico State."

Oklahoma State runs the type offense that intrigues Deboskie.

"I want to go to a school that has a spread offense and a good college football atmosphere," Deboskie said. "I want to find a school with a strong academic reputation as well.

"I was sitting in study hall thinking about that today. I have no clue what I want to major in and that's why it's important to find a good well-rounded school with good academics."

With so much to consider, Deboskie isn't close to deciding on a school.

"I have no time frame at all for making a decision," Deboskie said. "I plan on waiting as long as possible. I want to work hard this summer and see what else comes along and then I will make a decision.

"There isn't really any need to rush, especially because I've got the summer coming up and maybe some more schools will become interested in me."
