Florida athlete wants to visit

Arizona has consistently recruited Deionte Gaines and it now appears to be paying off. Read on to see why that is, his thoughts on his recruitment, and more.

Deionte Gaines is one of many recruits out of the state of Florida that the Arizona coaching staff is recruiting, but UA isn't the only school recruiting the 2014 athlete from Orlando Dr. Phillips High School.

"The schools that are recruiting me that stand out the most are Boise State, Michigan State, Florida International, South Carolina, and Arizona is up there as well," Gaines said. "I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple schools, but that is the list as of now."

The Wildcats appear to be in a solid position to receive a visit from Gaines.

"I know for sure I would like to visit Arizona this summer," Gaines said. "I haven't talked with Coach Lockwood in about a week, but he stays in contact and has just said they think that I can make an impact with the ball in my hands.

"They've had a lot of good stuff to say about the school and I want to check everything out for myself."

Gaines plans on taking visits and then dwindling down his list of schools.

"There is no time period that I'm looking at to make a decision," Gaines said. "The visits are important because I'm looking for a place that I feel comfortable at and a place that I want to be for four years.

"I will commit when I find that place. When I commit, I want to be full committed to that school. I don't want string things out unnecessarily."

As Gaines goes through the process, he will be looking closely at the education offered.

"If possible, I would like to find a school with a good communications department because I would like to be a broadcaster after I'm done playing football," he said.
