Wilkins enjoys visit

Quarterback Manny Wilkins took an unofficial visit to Arizona this past weekend. Read on for his thoughts on the visit, his overall recruitment, and more.

Manny Wilkins is one of the Arizona coaching staff's top priorities for the 2014 class and the signal-caller from Novato (Calif.) San Marin visited Tucson this past weekend.

"I had a great time," Wilkins said. "I got to check out Arizona and Arizona State. I didn't leave ASU with an offer, but that's okay because I wanted to check out the place. That was my main objective."

Wilkins enjoyed his visit to Arizona due in large part to being able to get a close look at the campus.

"The University of Arizona trip was great," he said. "I was the first recruit or player to walk the red carpet of the new facilities and it was really an impressive thing to see. I had heard a lot about the new stuff and it definitely lived up to the hype."

While Wilkins was impressed by the facilities, he was equally impressed by his talk with Coach Rodriguez. "He thinks my skills are a good fit for the spread and I agree with him," Wilkins said. "I think it's important for me to continue to work on my leadership skills and just show poise.

"He says he's looking for a certain type of player and wants guys who just love the game and are prepared to go the extra mile."

Wilkins plans on taking some more visits at some point, but isn't close to making his college selection.

"I will probably check out Utah State and maybe UCLA, but time is on my side in terms of making a decision," Wilkins said. "I really don't know when I will decide.

"It's my decision to make, but I want to make sure my parents are on the same page with my decision and that it's a place where I can play and have fun for a few years."
